Originally from Lemont Illinois, I moved to Lakeland to play golf for Florida Southern College in 1995. As part of the 2000 Mocs men's golf team, I earned the honors of First Team All American, while finishing as a team, 6th in the Division II National Championship. Following graduation from Florida Southern in 2000, I played in various mini tour events which included the Hooters Tour and the Golden Bear Tour. In 2009 I started working at Schalamar Creek Golf Club, by 2012 I acquired my current position at Lone Palm Golf Club, while earning my Class A PGA Certification in 2013.
Through the use of video, swing drills, and training aids my students will learn how to improve their game to the fullest of their ability. My teaching philosophy starts with the basic fundamentals: grip, stance, ball position, and posture. I believe each person has a swing based on his or her body type and flexibility. My goal is to set each student on the proper path of improvement, every student will leave the lesson better than they started. I do not believe a student should get worse before they get better, during every lesson each student will achieve positive results.
My approach: There will be a key interview process during the first lesson with each student. In this lesson I will discuss with the student his or her goals. The focus will be on total game improvement. After reviewing the student’s technique, I will voice my corrections, and if needed help the student set new goals. Video swing analysis will be used along with certain drills to help the student see and fell the corrections taking place. Short game and on curse instruction will be included at equal importance.
Teachers I have worked with:
Dr. Jim Suttie
Kevin Smeltz
Mike Shannon, Putting Instructor
Dr. Morris Pickens, Sports Psycologist
